* EARLY GAMES THIS WEEK :
Don't forget to input your lineup
before the Saturday games this week !!
------------------------------------------
* Yet another sign that Major league
Baseball is NOT for the casual fan :
A-Rod signs for a quarter of a BILLION
dollars !!!
------------------------------------------
* If a 9th or 10th place, etc. team makes the
playoffs because someone is not participating,
it will NOT affect their 2001 draft spots.
(example: if the 9th place team makes the
Consolation Playoffs, and wins it, they will
still pick 4th in the Rookie Draft and
Pre-season draft.)
------------------------------------------
I guess the REAL Rams showed up yesterday !!
Faulk (4 TD's) and Warner (390 yards) showed
the Vikes they weren't done yet !!
------------------------------------------
* We had a few teams that didn't input
lineups for the playoffs. What a way to
lose ... ;-(
- If those still alive in the playoffs fail
to input a lineup this week, we use the same
lineup input you this past weekend, and
no backups.

Just a reminder :
* To be eligible for the Playoffs, you MUST

up one spot in the seeding.

submit a lineup anyway as you may still make

Thanks to all of you that responded to the recent
message about holding a trading period before the
player cutdowns. The opinions were running about
65% in favor.
However, we will be keeping the current system
as it is.
Many owners have pointed out that by holding a
trading period before the cutdowns are due, it helps
the better teams out. This is the reason we
always did the cutdowns before starting the
trading period.
This way a team with, say, 4 very strong RB's
didn't trade one away for high draft picks or for
another strong player. (With the current system,
one of the RB's would now be available as a free
agent to help the weaker teams. Same for the
QB's, WR's, etc..

* I am absolutely AMAZED at how many games are lost
each week by those that don't list backups. This is
a great feature that most leagues do not even offer !
* Next Free Contest :
Week #11 - The top 5 Fantasy Football teams that score the
most points will all win a prize. (prizes will be listed
here next week)
* Special Team" scoring : There are a couple of reasons
we have never incorporated "special teams" scoring into
our system.
1- To keep the game simpler.
2- There are only a few "dual role" players in the NFL.
If every team had a designated kickoff / punt return
player, we could add that as a position. But the
players change from week to week.
* Weekly Free Agent deadline : 8:00pm pst each Wednesday.
* Remember, we no longer replace starters that are on a
"bye" week. If an Owner insists on starting a player that
is on a bye week, we will leave that player in as a starter,
regardless of who was listed as his backup. (starting with
week #10 line-ups)
* Reminder : There are a few College players listed in
the free agent database. Please do not try to pick them
up. They are there because of a few leagues that need
them added. For Dream Sports you can ONLY pick up
players that are currently in the NFL.
(before next season starts we hold a Rookie draft,
then regular free agent drafts)
You'll know if they are a college player if their
NFL team listing just shows a dash "-".
This includes : Drew Brees, Deuce McCallister,
Lad Tomlinson, Mike Black, etc ...

--------------------------------------------
What exactly does Out, Doubtful, Questionable and Probable
mean on the Submit Lineups page and on the Top Performers
report?
(or, why isn't John Doe listed?, or, why doesn't the injury
report get updated more often?)
This is the official NFL injury status of the player
in question. The NFL releases this information Wednesday evenings.
Some important notes regarding this report:
The official NFL injury report is issued Wednesday evenings -
that is the only time we update our report. Other sites may
choose to update their injury reports more frequently than
that - which may lead to the players and their statuses on
our report to be different than what you might find on other
sites.
The official NFL injury report only includes players on
teams that are scheduled to play in the upcoming week -
therefore, players that have a bye week for the upcoming week
will not be listed.
The official NFL injury report does not include players that
are out for the entire season, like Michael Westbrook.
In general, we get this information directly from the NFL.

------------------------------------------
League notes : Some IMPORTANT, some just a refresher...
* Be SURE to list enough players if you want a free agent.
If you pick late in each round, and only list a player or
two, you may not get anyone.
* If you want two free agent pick-ups, you MUST list players
for EACH round.
* You MUST drop a player if you already have 19 players
on your team. (or if you have 18, and are trying to pick
up 2 players) If not we will make a drop for you. (we try
to drop your worst or an injured player, and there is NO
change after we drop a player for you, so be sure to
list the drops yourself.)
* The selection order for Free Agents during the season goes
in reverse order of the current year-to-date points scored
by each team. There are 2 rounds of Free Agent pickups each
week. Each round is processed seperately.

* You do not need to list the last player at the above positions,
as we will know who it is. Also, don't list or start players on a
"bye" week. If you only have 2 kickers and 2 defenses, no need to
list them as backups. (but we will only plug in a backup kicker
IF you listed your QB/RB/WR backups)
- By listing no backups, we will assume you don't want any.
* If you list only 1 player as a backup and have more that scored
points at that position, we will ONLY use the one you listed.
Example : You listed Emmit Smith as your only backup RB. Now
if one of your starting RB's don't play, we will insert Smith.
If Smith didn't play either, we will NOT use any of your other
RB's that might of played.
* DO NOT list your backups as such :
Free agent, B Favre
P Holmes, Free agent
You must list the players actual name.
* If you do not submit a line up, we use the same Starters from the
previous week. (Starters only). If one of them does not play, you
get zero points for that player.

Subject: Listing Backup players ...
* I want to stress the IMPORTANCE of listing backup-players.
Very few, if any, Fantasy Football services go to the trouble
of replacing starters that do not play for their Team Owners.
We are proud to state that we have ALWAYS done this.
(since day 1 in 1987)
Nothing's more frustrating to think you started a healthy
running back, only to find out he sprained an ankle during
pre-game warm-ups and now will not play. Why should you get
zero points in that situation ??
* * We are however making a slight change. We will continue
to insert your backups, AS LONG AS YOU LIST THEM.
In the past when an Owner didn't list backups, we
automatically inserted the lowest scoring players for them.
But now to be fair to the Owners that take a few seconds to
list reserve players, we will no longer insert backups for
those teams that do not list them.
You can see this in the Rulebook here :
http://www.dreamsports.com/fb-rulebook.htm
* If any of your starters do not play that week, we insert
your Backup.
* If you do not list Backup players, and a starter doesn't play,
you get zero points for that player.
* For week #1, if you do not submit a line up, we will randomly
select the starters for you. (no backups)
* If you do not submit a line up, we use the same Starters from
the previous week. (Starters only). If one of them does not play,
you get zero points for that player.

More help on the week #1 Waivers :
1) Be SURE to list enough players if you want a free agent.
If you pick late, and only list a player or 2, you may not

up 2 players)

Subject: Trades ...
Some notes on "Trades" :
Do we oversee Trades ? You bet we do !
- One reason people play in our "pay leagues" is they want
a reputable Fantasy Football service that has integrity.
Many so-called "free leagues" have owners that do not care
about their teams. Some of them have team owners that
"secretly" own 2 or more teams, or get a "friend"
to temporarily join the league to build up one "super team".
ALL trades are subject to the Commissioner's approval.
When we review a trade we look for the following :
- Collusion
- Fairness
- If we see what we consider to be "collusion", we will
contact both owners and warn them. If it happens again,
one or both of them will be dropped from the league.
- If a trade is blatantly uneven (i.e. Fred Taylor for
Robert Holcomb) we will deny it.
* Our normal procedure is to rank each player involved in
the trade from 1-10, then add the totals. For Rookie players
we assign a point value equal to the position they were
drafted in the NFL. (example : Thomas Jones and Jamal
Lewis = 7 or 8 points each)
* We realize everyone "ranks" players differently according
to preference, team needs, favorite players, etc. This is
why the "totals" do not have to be even, just somewhat close.
* Be aware though, we will ALWAYS listen to rebuttals from
anyone that has a trade disapproved. If you can both convince
us the trade helps both teams, we will put it through.
- In addition, A player traded from one team cannot be traded
from the same owner back to the original team for 4 weeks.
This is to prevent "collusion", and to keep Owners from
trading players back and forth weekly.
