Each post-season, we review most of our leagues,
to come up with the numbers that show the
importance of each position.
This is for the starters only:
QB's - 23% of total
RB's - 32% of total
WR/TE's - 24% of total
K's - 6% of total
DT's - 15% of total
The above is close to what we feel is ideal. As most
of you know, we have always weighted the system towards
the running game.
Just as it is in the NFL, teams that can't rush the
ball usually don't win.

Thanks to AOL and a few other ISP's you may not get the
weekly transactions, and results e-mails.
Unfortunately AOL has mis-identified some email from
our site as spam.
There is very little we can do about this decision they
have made right now - your best bet would be to get in
touch with the people at AOL, making it clear that the
email they are getting from myfantasyleague.com and
dreamsports.com is mail you want, and it is not spam,
and it should not be blocked by AOL. Hopefully if enough
AOL subscribers make this clear, they will consider changing
their policy.
Longer term, we've started the process of getting on AOL's
"whitelist", but frankly, we're not at all optimistic that
we'll be able to get through all of that red tape any time
soon, so we're really hoping our first suggestion above will
be enough for them to reconsider their decision.

Subject: East Coast power problems

A few leagues had the draft timer expire on them,
and although we are not sure which leagues, if any,
we suspect some owners may not have been able
to get online and draft.
What we are going to do, is that if your team was on
the clock, and the timer ran out between Wednesday around
noon, EST and Friday evening, send us the player you
want to draft, and we will add that player to your roster.
Note: * It must be a player not already drafted or on a league
roster.
* Send us a "few choices" because we are going to do this
manually, and the player you want could be drafted
already. We will make every effort to get to the requests
as quickly as possible.
* Luckily (if you can say there was any, as we are not
downplaying the frustration some of you are
experiencing back east) most leagues are in the
later rounds, and the "studs" are long gone.

Effective immediately:
(This is being sent to everyone. Ignore this if you are
drafting properly, which most of you are)
If your team misses 2 picks, or 1 pick, and we see you
haven't logged in for a couple of days, we will set your
team(s) up with pre-drafts.
These pre-drafts will be of normal players, but will be
randomly picked.
It's not fair to the owners that diligently check the draft
page, and keep up their pre-drafts, to have to wait 16 hours
every time the pick comes up for a team that is not doing
their part to keep the draft moving.
There are only a few teams/owners that this refers to, but
just one can hurt a league.

Pre-Draft option, if you will be away from your computer
for a while.
* Despite several notices about the draft starting date
and time over the past few weeks, we still have a few
leagues that haven't started. If needed, we will make
the 1.1 picks for those leagues soon. (remember, you can
pre-draft for ANY pick, including 1.1)
* Once your league finished the 1st round, we will turn on
the draft timer soon after that. Be aware that we do this
manually, so it could be right after pick 1.12 is made,
or it could be in the middle or near the end of the
2nd round.
IMPORTANT NOTE: (the 16 hours STARTS from the last
pick made. For example, if the last pick was made just
after midnight, and we turn on the timer at 11 AM, there
is only 5 hours left for the next pick)

Subject: Pre-Draft change

Now, when pre-drafting, you're able to do the following things:
1) Pre-draft for any round at any time. Previously, you had to
pre-draft for rounds in sequential order. Now, at the bottom
of the pre-draft page, is a quick and easy way to pre-draft
for any round the you'd like to.
2) Pre-draft for multiple picks in the same round. Previously, if
through a trade or some other means, you ended up with multiple
draft picks in the same draft round, you could only pre-draft
for the first pick in that round.
Now, you're able to pre-draft for each pick you have in each round.

Subject: Trading help

To everyone:
Please keep in mind that when trading away a "protected" player, you
need to get a good player back, or a decent player and a high draft pick.
For example. If you were to offer a top #7 WR, like Peerless Price, it
would need to be for about a 1.5 to 1.7 pick.
The QB's, RB's and WR's (6 total) that were protected pretty much equal
what would be drafted in the first 6 rounds of a new draft.
Peerless Price would go around the 3rd to 4th round.
So trading him for a 4th rounder in a keeper league, with a
pre-season draft, you are in effect trading him for a 10th rounder,
not a 4th.

Subject: Weekly Results

We're happy to announce another site enhancement:
Now, the "weekly results" report will list a teams
"potential points" as well as the teams "efficiency
rating".
Potential points are defined as the maximum number
of points a team could have achieved in a given week,
assuming that they had started all of their top-scoring
players, and benched all of their bottom-scoring players.
The efficiency rating is simply a measure of the
percent of points that a given team did get versus
their "potential points".
In addition, the top scoring players will be listed
in "italic".

Changes and Improvements implemented for the upcoming season:
New Features
Login -
The 2003 system is now even more secure with each user login session.
There's also no confusing 'Remember my Password' checkbox as all
passwords are remembered by the system. You'll also notice that the
system keeps track of the current user logged in in the upper,
right-hand corner of your league pages.
Live Stats -
One of the best features keeps getting better. There will now be less
time between updates to offer even quicker results during the games and
we've added a Point Value column for easier viewing of live data. In
addition, for Team Owners who play in multiple leagues, the live stats
system will now allow one live stats window for each league
(as opposed the one window per PC).
Message Board -
The 2002 message boards (regular and enhanced) have been replaced with
a single, integrated board to offer the best options of each of the old
boards. Now you have the functionality of the 2002 enhanced board along
with the integration of the 2002 regular board - no special login is
required).
Reports -
A number of new reports and report enhancements have been added. The
Standings report can now revert back to any previous week in the season
to give a quick snapshot of the league standings at any point in time.
Draft System -
The first step to a successful league is it's draft. To enhance the
draft, we've added the ability to save comments for each pick to
display them on the draft report . Also, pre-drafting has a much
simpler, easier to use interface, and you can now quickly and
easily copy your pre-draft picks from round to round with one
button click. In addition, the first pick of the draft may now pre-draft.
We've also updated the live draft by adding round & pick information to
this screen and automatically resetting the timer once it counts down to
00:00.
Waiver System -
Leagues using a waiver request period now have a Copy Round button that
will allow them to copy players from one round to the next.
Email -
Faster email delivery means that you should get any system-generated
email much quicker this year.
Behind the Scenes -
Many program optimizations have been added to help the site run faster
during periods of high usage.
