Please remember, DO NOT use the "Live Draft" mode, when making your
picks, as it doesn't send out an e-mail of the picks made. (because the
system thinks ALL the owners are in the draft room doing a "Live
Draft")
You can always see the Draft Report here:

Subject: Trades.
--------------------------------------------
Quick reminder on how Dream Sports
handles "Trades" :
http://www.dreamsports.com/trades.htm
Do we oversee Trades ? You bet we do !
- One reason people play in our "pay leagues" is they want a reputable
Fantasy Football service that has integrity. Many so-called "free
leagues" have owners that do not care about their teams. Some of them
have team owners that "secretly" own 2 or more teams, or get a "friend"
to temporarily join the league to build up one "super team".
All trades are subject to the Commissioner's approval.
* Please note that it could take up to 24 hours for the Commissioner to
approve or disapprove a trade.
When we review a trade we look for the following :
- Collusion
- Fairness
- If we see what we consider to be "collusion", we will contact both
owners and warn them. If it happens again, one or both of them will be
dropped from the league.
- If a trade is blatantly unfair (i.e..e. Fred Taylor for Robert
Holcomb) we will deny it.
Our normal procedure is to rank each player involved in the trade from
1-10, then add the totals. For Rookie players we assign a point value
equal to the position they were drafted in the NFL. (example : In 2000,
Thomas Jones = 6 to 7, and Jamal Lewis = 8 points)
We realize everyone "ranks" players differently according to
preference,
team needs, favorite players, etc. This is why the "totals" do not have
to be even, just somewhat close.
Be aware though, we will ALWAYS listen to rebuttals from anyone that
has
a trade disapproved. If you can both convince us the trade helps both
teams, we will put it through.
- In addition, a player traded from one team cannot be traded from the
same owner back to the original team for 4 weeks. This is to prevent
"collusion", and to keep Owners from trading players back and forth
weekly.
* No Trades after week # 9.
(Remember, it could take up to 24 hours for the Commissioner to approve
or disapprove a trade.)

Subject: Pre-drafting.
--------------------------------------------
To all Owners :
First of all, thanks to those of you that
are using the "Pre-Draft" option.
Also thanks to those of you not using it, but
that are checking your e-mail and/or the Draft
Report web pages often.
To those of you not doing either, please at
least try the "Pre-draft" option, it's very
easy to use, and it greatly speeds up the draft.
The 24 hour "time limit" is only for extreme cases,
it is not meant to be 24 hours between picks.
If you know you will not be online for 4 or more hours
at a time, or if your not checking e-mail every few hours
a day, please use the "Pre-Draft" method.
On some leagues, the timer might be changed to 12 hours
for future rounds if the draft is proceeding too slowly.
This encourages use of the "Pre-Draft" option.
Any league not making at least 5-6 picks a day will
most likely go to 12 hours. (we'll give you a day's
notice if your league changes)
* * Pre-Drafting for future Rounds: * *
To pre-draft, follow these steps:
Start at your normal starting point:
http://www.dreamsports.com/fb-frame.htm
Click on your league.
Then click on the "League Draft" link.
On the next web page, click on the "Draft" Option.
Next, click on your "Team Name", then click the "Go" button.
- If it's your turn to pick, you will see a message indicating that,
and
you may draft
normally. Otherwise, you will see a message indicating that you may
pre-draft for future rounds.
Select several players from the list of available players or teams.
The more you pick, the better chance you will have of actually getting
one of them.
To select more than one player, hold the "control" or "ctrl" key down
as
you click
on all of your choices.
Select the "round" that you are pre-drafting for.
Press the "Make Selection" button.
From the next web page, you will see a list of your pre-draft picks,
and a column titled "Order". Prioritize your picks by having the number
1 in the Order column
next to your first preference, the number 2 next to your second
preference, and so on.
Press the "Submit Pre-Draft" button.
You will receive a confirmation on the next web page of the pre-draft
picks that you
just made.
Once the person in front of you has picked (or their pre-draft pick has
been made for
them), your highest priority available pick will be made for you, and
everyone in your
league will receive an email confirmation of this.
If you later change your mind and decide to remove your pre-draft picks
for a certain
round (before drafting for that round, of course!), you can follow all
of the steps above,
except don't select any players or teams from the list of available
players and teams. This
will make the dreamsports.myfantasyleague.com webpage forget your
pre-draft picks for
that round.

* In case you were curious, here is where the
League Champions "came from" last season:
The Top Seed won 7 league championships.
The 2nd Seed won 10 league championships.
The 3rd Seed won 5 league championships.
The 4th Seed won 4 league championships.
--------------------------
* We had one league where ALL 4 teams in
one division ended up a 5-9 record each.
--------------------------
* In the Franco Harris league, in Week #8:
the Twins tied the Sharks, as they both scored
146.64 points.
But the interesting part was that in the
tiebreaker, (Most total RB points), they
tied in that category too, at 53.40 points each !!
Twins :
Biakabutuka, Tshimanga CAR RB 33.20
Martin, Curtis NYJ RB 20.20
Sharks:
Anderson, Mike DEN RB 25.00
Smith, Emmitt DAL RB 28.40
It took the next tiebreaker (WR/TE points)
for the Twins to take the win !!

* Through 13 weeks of the Gale Sayers league,
Mark Horan's team, "Blitz" was undefeated, only to
lose in the final week of the regular season

NFL Draft 2001: The Fantasy Perspective
By Michael Fabiano
The 2001 NFL Draft may have started out slowly from a skill position
perspective, but it ended up being one of the deepest drafts for wide
receivers in recent years. While 10 of the first 15 picks were either
defensive players or offensive linemen, there were still a number of
players taken who have the chance to make an immediate Fantasy impact
this season.
The following is a list of the top 15 players who have the potential to
step right in and be productive as Fantasy players in their rookie
campaign.
1. LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, San Diego Chargers
Tomlinson is a Fantasy stud in the making. He compiled 5,263 yards and
54 TDs in his four-year career at TCU, including an amazing 2,158 yards
rushing and 22 touchdowns last season. He joins a San Diego team that
hasn't had a consistently good running attack since the days of Chuck
Muncie. He'll step right into the starting role for the Chargers, who
will actually have some semblance of an offense with Doug Flutie at the
helm. Offensive coordinator Norv Turner incorporates his running backs
heavily into his schemes (Emmitt Smith and Stephen Davis are past
examples), so Tomlinson is in a good spot to be productive right away.
Don't be surprised to see him rush for 1,000-plus yards and 12
touchdowns in his inaugural season. He'd be a great pick in the early
rounds of your draft, and is even more of a prized commodity in keeper
leagues.
2. Rod Gardner, WR, Washington Redskins
With Albert Connell and James Thrash gone, Gardner will get every
opportunity to be the Redskins' No. 2 receiver this season. Many
experts
compare his skills to Michael Irvin, who was a big, strong receiver
with
soft hands and deceptively good speed. With a gunslinger like Jeff
George behind center, there's no doubt that the Redskins' offense will
be airing it out on a regular basis. That will be good news for
Gardner,
who has the ability to make Washington forget about Connell in a hurry.
3. Koren Robinson, WR, Seattle Seahawks
Robinson has all the tools to become the next great wideout in Seattle.
His combination of speed, size and athletic ability gives him the
chance
to make a real impact on a Seattle squad desperately in need of a
playmaker on offense. His 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame makes him tough to
cover one-on-one, especially for smaller cornerbacks who may not have
the ability to bump him on the line of scrimmage. If Matt Hasselbeck
thrives, then Robinson could turn into a real sleeper. If he struggles,
however, it could be a tough year for this talented rookie.
4. Michael Vick, QB, Atlanta Falcons
Simply put, this kid has the talent to be a major Fantasy player for
many years to come. In the mold of such players as Daunte Culpepper and
Donovan McNabb, Vick is the prototypical "new wave" NFL quarterback
that
seems to be taking over the league. He has 4.3 speed to go along with
an
uncanny instinct to avoid pass rushes with tailback-like cutting
ability. The only thing wrong with Vick might be his run-before-pass
mentality, but time and experience will correct that flaw. Vick would
be
ranked higher on this list if he were starting, but that job belongs to
Chris Chandler for the time being. Chandler's annual injury problems,
however, will probably result in at least two or three starts for Vick
during the regular season. The former Hokie won't likely make an impact
right away, but eventually Vick could be the most coveted player in any
Fantasy draft.
5. David Terrell, WR, Chicago Bears
Many football pundits ranked Terrell as the most complete receiver in
the entire draft. The former Michigan Wolverine caught at least one
pass
in his last 24 collegiate games, and is the only Michigan receiver to
post consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. He has all the talent in the world
and could make a major impact in the Bears' offense alongside superstar
wideout Marcus Robinson. If there is a downside to Terrell, it's that
he
has a stress fracture in his foot that he won't have surgery on to
correct, so he may be a bit of an injury risk.
6. Freddie Mitchell, WR, Philadelphia Eagles
After a strong junior season, Mitchell decided to turn pro and will get
his chance to shine as a member of the Eagles. Mitchell is a great
athlete, coupling a 4.47 with a 39.5-inch vertical leap to counter his
small, 5-foot-11 frame. He is extremely dangerous after the catch, and
has lightning speed to make big plays downfield. Since the Eagles have
no real threat at the wideout position, Mitchell could make a huge
splash right away.
7. Todd Heap, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Everyone knows that Shannon Sharpe is the main man in Baltimore, but
Heap may be too good to pass up, especially in keeper leagues. Many
experts have compared Heap to Tony Gonzalez. The Ravens run a two
tight-end set 35-40 percent of the time on offense, so Sharpe's
presence
could actually make Heap even more of a threat to post good numbers in
his rookie year. Heap has all the tools necessary to be an All-Star
tight end for years to come.
8. Santana Moss, WR, New York Jets
Moss is a real speedster who has the ability to go to the house anytime
he touches the ball. He is undersized at 5-foot-10, but his quickness
makes up for his lack of size. Moss is also an excellent return
specialist, and could give Fantasy owners a presence similar to that of
Az-Zahir Hakim in some aspects. He won't be an every-down receiver for
New York, which will decrease his value as a Fantasy player somewhat.
9. Michael Bennett, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Word around the league is that Bennett really could've used another
year
of action at the collegiate level to fine-tune his skills. He is a
great
runner with average hands, but his decision-making in the gaps has been
questionable. Since Robert Smith is now retired, Bennett will have an
opportunity to play a lot in his rookie year. However, chances are,
head
coach Dennis Green will use the 2001 season as a learning year for
Bennett, who is an explosive runner, but may lack the experience to be
a
serious threat right away.
10. Deuce McAllister, RB, New Orleans Saints
Many experts smelled a rat when the Saints picked McAllister with the
23rd pick overall, simply because they already have Ricky Williams in
their backfield. However, Williams was reportedly considering a
holdout,
and rumor had it that the Saints may have been looking to deal him
before the beginning of camp. If Williams does in fact end up
elsewhere,
McAllister's value will go through the roof. He was actually ranked
ahead of Tomlinson in many depth charts because of his outstanding
field
vision and soft hands, so his talent is well documented. While salary
cap implications make a Williams trade improbable, McAllister could
still get some playing time considering Williams' history of injury
problems.
11. Travis Henry, RB, Buffalo Bills
Henry had a stellar senior season, totaling 1,314 yards and 11
touchdowns for Tennessee in only 11 games. He is strong runner with a
low center of gravity, and has a running style similar to that of
Emmitt
Smith. He has the ability to make quick spurts through holes in the
line
of scrimmage, and is strong enough to break tackles to turn four-yard
gains into seven-yard gains. With no standout tailbacks in Buffalo,
Henry will get every opportunity to win the starting job.
12. Anthony Thomas, RB, Chicago Bears
Thomas is a big, punishing runner (6-foot-1, 225 lbs.) who has
surprisingly good hands for a man of his size. The "A-Train" carried
the
ball an average of 231 times in his four years at Michigan, so he has
the ability to be a serious workhorse for Chicago. Incumbent tailback
James Allen has been prone to turning the ball over, so Thomas has a
real chance to take the starting job from him should he perform well in
camp and during the preseason.
13. Quincy Morgan, WR, Cleveland Browns
Any young receiver in Cleveland has a chance to be productive, which is
why Morgan is ranked in the Top 15. The second pick in Round Two,
Morgan
is a big receiver (6-foot-1, 210 lbs.) who combines exceptional speed
with enough strength to break tackles after the catch. Many football
pundits had Morgan going in the first round, so the Browns must have
been thrilled to see him still available at pick No. 33. With no
established receivers on the team, Morgan has a chance to step right
into the Browns' starting lineup and be productive.
14. Chad Johnson, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
This kid's stock skyrocketed after a great season at Oregon State. The
6-foot-1, 190 lb. wideout has incredible speed and the potential to
become a serious deep threat for the Bengals. He caught 37 passes for
806 yards and eight scores in 2000, and has developed his skills
quickly
in only one year at the Division-I level. The lack of a solid
quarterback in Cincinnati will hurt his value, but his talent is
unquestionable.
15. Robert Ferguson, WR, Green Bay Packers
The former junior-college star burst onto the scene for Texas A&M in
2000, and became an instant success. He set a single-season receiving
record at the school with 885 receiving yards, and added six touchdowns
in only 10 games. He'll get a chance to step into Green Bay's third
receiver slot right away, and could give Bill Schroeder a run for his
money as the team's No. 2 wideout.

Subject: Rule changes
--------------------------------------------
Two Rule changes going into effect for the upcoming season :
1) Post-season Player Protection change:
You will still be protecting a certain amount of players
after each season is over.
If one of the players you protected then retires before
the next season starts or if a player you protected suffers
an off-season injury that will keep him out of action in
the NFL for the entire upcoming season, then you will be
able to pull back one of the players you dropped.
Of course, you would have to make this change prior to the
Pre-Season draft.
Only ONE protected player can be replaced under the above rule.
(goes into effect after the 2001 season is over)
2) Number of Players you can Protect after the season is over.
QB - 2
RB - 2 (was 3)
WR/TE - 3
K - 1
DT - 1
* * Many owners have asked for this change. This way there will
be a few NFL starting RB's available for the pre-season
draft.
(goes into effect after the 2001 season is over)
3) Back-up Players are only used when it affects the outcome of the game.

Subject: Scoring Rule change
--------------------------------------------
Every year we review our scoring system to see if it needs
any "tweaks". We have only made a few small changes in the
past few years, as we are very happy with how it has
evolved since 1988.
After reviewing all of the leagues, we came up with these
numbers that show the importance of each position for this
past year, the 2000 season.
This is for the starters only:
QB's - 21% of total
RB's - 33% of total
WR/TE's - 24% of total
K's - 8% of total
DT's - 14% of total
The above is what we feel is almost ideal. We have always
weighted the system heavier to the running game, just as
in the NFL. Teams that can't rush the ball usually don't win.
For the 2001 season we are making this small change :
"New" Kickers points system :
Field Goal 0-29 2 points each
Field Goal 30-39 3 points each
Field Goal 40-49 4 points each
Field Goal 50-99 5 points each
Extra Points 1-99 1 point each
"Old" Kickers points system :
Field Goal 0-19 2 points each
Field Goal 20-29 3 points each
Field Goal 30-39 4 points each
Field Goal 40-49 5 points each
Field Goal 50-99 6 points each
Extra Points 1-99 1 point each
